Nov 27, 2007 I know that the word for great grandfather in Italian is bisnonno, but how would you translate a relative who goes fyrther back in time, such as a great great grandfather or great great great great grandfather . I am trying to translate a letter into Italian for a friend who is trying to trace his ancestors. Thanks to anyone who can help.
May 15, 2011 We say, (great grandfather) and (great great grandfather). I'm not sure how much it's been accepted grammatically, but we often extend this rule in conversation like, (great great great great great grandfather).
